Runner Ruth got a helping hand from Uri Geller’s psychic gemstone
AN East London woman who survived a serious cycling accident beat the odds a second time when she raced home in the marathon with help from the psychic powers of Uri Geller.
Ruth Steward, 31, nearly died when she was thrown over the handle bars of her bike five months ago.
But though she suffered serious head injuries, including a fractured skull, and an operation to remove a blood clot from her brain, Ruth was back on her feet on Sunday to raise hundreds of pounds for the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service, based at the London Hospital, Whitechapel.
“I was determined to do it,” she said. “I didn’t want to sit around and feel sorry for myself, it’s very easy to wallow in self-pity.”
Ruth, from Brodlove Lane, Shadwell, contacted famous psychic and spoon bender, Uri Geller, to get her through the grueling 26-mile race.
And on Saturday he met her at the start, putting his hands on her head, neck and knees.
Ruth added: “I was physically fit enough to do the marathon, but I was beginning to doubt I could do it.”
“I’m a great believer in positive thinking – two minds are better than one.”
“I have no doubt Uri has a gift of giving people energy and to have him there was really special.”

Uri energised a crystal which Ruth carried around the course and he signed her T-Shirt which she touched whenever she needed help.
He also shouted encouragement when he saw her again on Tower Bridge.
Uri, who has worked with many top sports people, including Mohammed Ali, said: “Ruth did very well and I’m amazed she finished, I really feared she would collapse.”
“I was quite shocked when I first saw the scars on her face”
“But its the mental attitude that helps you finish, it was an astonishing result.”
Uri gives athletes crystals which help to enhance their Mindpower and confidence and he has promised to help Ruth again – this time for the New York Marathon when she hopes to raise more money for HEMS.
