Over airwaves: timepiece worked for first time in years as Eileen watched

Grateful – Psychic showman Uri Geller with Eileen Martin and the watch which suddenly started working again.

A REMARKABLE thing happened when Eileen Martin looked into the eyes of psychic Uri Geller.

Her watch started ticking again eight years after it stopped working. Eileen, of Martin Close, Woodley was watching the Sonning psychic on TV yesterday.

Uri told his TV audience if they looked into his eyes they would be able to find lost car keys.

Eileen is unsure why but she suddenly started thinking about the watch her late husband, Ted, gave her before he died 10 years ago.

She said: “I just suddenly thought about my watch and wondered if by looking into Uri’s eyes I could get it to work again.

“So I fetched it down, stood in front of the television, looked into Uri’s eyes and couldn’t believe it when my watch started ticking for the first time in eight years.

“It is just unbelievable. I still can’t quite believe a watch I gave up for dead eight years ago has come back to life simply by me staring into the eyes of Uri Geller.

“When it first stopped I tried everything to get it working again but nothing happened so I put it in my jewellery box and it has been there for the last eight years.” Mrs Martin had given up hope of the watch ever working again until yesterday.

When we told Uri he said he was amazed and delighted he had helped someone who lived so close to home.

He said: “This watch obviously means so much to Mrs Martin and I am so pleased for her that it is now working.”

Mrs Martin said she would like to give Mr Geller her thanks in person – and a big hug.

So the Reading Evening Post arranged for Mrs Martin to meet him. Mrs Martin said: “I cannot thank the Post enough.”

This has really made my day. First my watch starts working and then I meet Uri Geller.
