WORLD RECORD: Uri Geller helps Bruce Bursford and Cefyn Lloyd build up the speed.
THE world record for the fastest ride on a tandem cycle was smashed yesterday at more than 200 mph.
Bruce Bursford, 38, and Cefyn Lloyd, 34, from Dereham, Norfolk, reached 205 mph, more than doubling the 100mph record which has stood for 30 years.
But within seconds the two record breakers were saying they were disappointed at their speed.
“We can go faster than that,” said Bruce.
And Cefyn added: “To double the old record has taken a lot of hard work but we are slightly disappointed.”
The two men set the record on their hitech bike, which weighs just under 13 pounds, at the Farnborough Airshow, Hampshire.
There to lend them support was their mind trainer, Uri Geller, who appealed for onlookers to shout their support and “send your powers to them.”
