An extraordinary map discovered by Russian archaeologists appears to prove an intelligent civilisation visited Earth 120 million years ago, when dinosaurs still roamed the planet.

I have boundless admiration for Bono, the Irish singer who is using his international megastardom as a weapon in the crusade against poverty and starvation.

By the sheer force of his belief in justice and morality, Bono has forced world leaders from George Bush to the Pope to rethink their complacency about starvation. Bono has just returned from a triumphant mission to Washington where President Bush pledged five billion dollars for aid.

Bono doesn’t care whose arm he has to twist. “I’d have lunch with Satan if there was so much at stake,” he says, “Millions of lives are being lost for the stupidest of reasons: money.”

That kind of determination is unstoppable. When it hits a reality roadblock … reality has to back down.

We can all learn from Bono’s example. Self-belief is the key.
