Ezer Mizion: Happiness is the Best Medicine! Twenty children suffering from cancer spent week in London

By SF

Twenty children suffering from cancer spent an exciting week in London, full of sensational experiences.
The children, aged 10 to 20, enjoyed the warm and heartfelt hospitality of Uri Geller, who has been hosting the Ezer Mizion groups for the last several years, doing everything he can to see to it that everyone’s enjoyment is complete.
In the course of the week, the children viewed the entire city from atop the Millenium Wheel – the London Eye. They had a grand time at the amusement park, visited Madame Tussaud’s Museum, were guests at the Chelsea all-star team locker rooms, played crazy golf, and enjoyed elaborate shows. And – just so they would come back not only with fond memories but also with gifts – the children were given pocket money which they used to buy themselves fantastic toys and games at Hamley’s, the biggest toy store in the world.
The trip was organized by Ezer Mizion volunteers in London together with staff at Oranit-Ezer Mizion’s guest home for children with cancer. The children were chaperoned by the devoted Oranit-Ezer Mizion staff who are together with the children throughout their difficult treatments and hospitalizations. The trip’s goal was to give the children a break from the therapy routine, provide them with an opportunity to temporarily forget the pain and constant fear, and put a smile on their face – in short, to give them a dreamlike week of unadulterated fun, with no sign of syringes or doctors…
The amazing success at arranging the complex logistics of the children’s flight, their accommodations and the personal needs of each one, turned the trip into an unforgettable experience.
This year, as a result of the economic crisis that has heavily affected many of the regular donors, it was especially difficult to rally the necessary donations to make the trip a reality, but despite all the challenges, another group – this time, of mothers with cancer – will be departing soon for their own dream week in London.
Ezer Mizion will do anything to keep giving these children and mothers memorable glimmers of pleasure in the midst of their pain – because “happiness is the best medicine”!

“Uri Geller gave an absolutely resonating talk on his life and career. He had every single magician in the room on the edge of their seats trying to digest as much information as they could. Uri emphasized that the path to frame is through uniqueness and charisma and that professional entertainers must be creative in their pursuits of success and never shy away from publicity.”

“The man is a natural magician. He does everything with great care, meticulous misdirection and flawless instinct. The nails are real, the keys are really borrowed, the envelopes are actually sealed, there are no stooges, there are no secret radio devices and there are no props from the magic catalogues.”
