Fairwell to Tony Curtis
Uri Geller with Tony Curtis in 1974
As you know, the great Hollywood actor Tony Curtis has sadly passed away.
Like me, Tony was of Hungarian Jewish descent, so we instantly had some things in common when we met in the early 1970’s.
Tony Curtis was an incredible movie actor as we all know, with roles in well over one hundred movies! You may also be aware that he was a fantastic artist, however what many people are not aware of is Tony Curtis the philanthropist!
Tony was instrumental founding and supporting the Emanuel Foundation, a charity which worked to preserve & restore sites of Jewish interest in Hungary, including the restoration of Dohany Temple in Budapest, the largest synagogue in Europe, and the second largest in the world! It also happens to be the synagogue in which my parents got married!
Also Tony’s support made possible the creation of the Holocaust memorial, which was unveiled in 1988, for which Tony was present.
So Tony Curtis has left the world a far more enriched place in so many ways, with his acting, his art & also his generosity. Thank you Tony!
