Uri bends Sandra’s specs
WATCHING legendary psychic Uri Geller on television, Sandra Dixon, of Kendal, got more than she bargained for.
As she stared into the eyes of the mystical TV star – famed for his ability to bend spoons – on the recent Beyond Belief programme, her metal glasses turned to jelly and buckled, reports Jeremy Craddock.
The Gazette contacted Uri and he was so interested in Sandra’s experience that he is getting in touch with her and has promised to send her a signed copy of one of his books and a crystal.
Uri told the Gazette: “These things do happen. This proves her psychic energy was strong when she was watching me.”
“I have heard all sorts of funny stories, including people’s fillings coming out.”
Sandra was watching Beyond Belief – a show about the paranormal hosted by Sir David Frost when Uri told the audience to stare into his eyes and concentrate. Sandra – who until then had dismissed his powers as hocus pocus decided to give it a try.
Gazing into his eyes on screen, she suddenly got a pinching feeling on the bridge of her nose, followed by a burning sensation.
“I took off my glasses and the middle bit which goes across my nose was all soft and limp, like jelly,” said Sandra, of Romney Gardens.
“The metal was soft, but then seemed to re-set. I tried to bend them back into shape, but my mother told me not to or I would break them,” she added.
As our photograph proves, the £100 spectacles – under a year old were not fit to be worn after the Geller experience. Her optician at Specsavers, in Kendal, was unable to repair them, so Sandra had to buy new frames.
“I decided I would get plastic ones this time,” said Sandra, sporting her new £31 Geller-proof pair.
Now Sandra is a believer in Uri’s amazing talents: “He is marvellous how he does things. This really is beyond belief”
