Geller causes radio silence
A RADIO station’s bid to brighten up Friday the 13th turned to disaster yesterday when Uri Geller succeeded in putting them off the air.
Heart FM presenter Jonathan Coleman invited the celebrity spoon-bender to inspire a psychic experience among his audience. But at the precise moment listeners were invited to touch their radios to the sound of soft music, the London station blacked out for eight seconds.
Coleman explained: “I am a sceptic about all this and I just thought Uri would come in and bend a few spoons. We were playing mystic music and he was asking people to touch their radios. Then the producer dashed in and said we were off air.
“The engineers were running around but they could not find an explanation.”
Even Geller was surprised and phoned his wife to check that her radio had silenced.
