Scouts meet psychic Uri

WHITLEY Scouts had stars in their eyes last night when millionnaire psychic Uri Geller brought his own brand of magic to their new group.
The Sonning spoon-bender was guest of honour at the 43rd Reading Scout Group meeting at the scout hut in Callington Road, Whitley, after a special plea from Scout leader Damian Morris. Mr Geller invested three lads into the group and spent nearly an hour entertaining them by bending spoons and keys, and moving the hands on watches.
He spoke to youngsters about his own early life in a poor family in Israel and encouraged them to aim for the top. Damian, who set up the Scout group two years ago, said he was put in touch with Mr Geller by a friend. He said: “I wanted him to come to raise our youngsters’ hopes and give them faith in themselves. He was brilliant. He’s a natural with kids and he was absolutely mobbed.”
“He said he started off with nothing but held out for what he wanted in life. He told them to keep off drink, drugs and smoking, to go for a clean, healthy life, to work hard and set their sights high.” Mr Geller told the Post: “I was delighted to visit the Scouts.”
